Here we are going to explain what this infection<\/strong> is, how it appears and how it can affect the little ones.<\/p>\n

What is herpangina?<\/h2>\n

Herpangina is an infection that appears in the throat<\/strong> and mainly affects children between 3 and 10 years of age, although it can also affect adolescents<\/strong> and adults, but it is less common.<\/p>\n

It could be said that it appears as small epidemics<\/strong> where a large number of children are concentrated, for example in schools. Children are not the most<\/strong> hygienic people as they are always touching everything because they want to experiment, so places<\/strong> like the ones we have mentioned above should<\/strong> be as clean as possible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The most common time of year is during the fall<\/strong> and summer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What are the symptoms?<\/h3>\n

We must take into account that each child is different and the virus<\/strong> can affect each one in a different way. The incubation period is usually 3-5 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They usually show signs of not wanting to eat<\/strong><\/p>\n

Headaches<\/strong> and neck<\/strong> pain<\/p>\n

Severe stomach pain<\/p>\n

In adults, there is usually a stabbing pain<\/strong> in the back and neck.<\/p>\n

Small spots in the throat. If they are not treated properly<\/strong>, they can generate ulcers.<\/p>\n

Fever for 2-4 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vomiting in infants.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Is there a treatment?<\/h2>\n

Theoretically, there is a treatment<\/strong> since if the child is given the necessary antibiotics the sores will disappear as well as the fever and other problems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There are cases in which there are health<\/strong> professionals<\/strong> who do not want to treat children with this problem, since it has been demonstrated that in a more<\/strong> or less<\/strong> short period of time this disease disappears, but it is true that, as we have mentioned above, ulcers may appear<\/strong> if the sores are not treated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A home treatment to take into account in these cases, is that the person<\/strong> affected<\/strong> by this virus is always very hydrated. Drinking water from time to time helps to hydrate the person and to keep<\/strong> the throat moist for the sores.<\/p>\n
